حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو , حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ , عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَبِي أَسِيدٍ , عَنْ جَدِّهِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سَنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ ، وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ لَدَخَلْتُمُوهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, you will certainly follow the practices of the previous nations, span by span and cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they entered the hole of a lizard, you would also enter it.
