It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by me while I was ill, and I was supplicating: "O Allah! If my time of death is near, then grant me relief from this illness and call me to Yourself; if it is delayed, then grant me healing; and if this is a trial, then grant me patience." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "What are you saying?" I repeated my words. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed his hand over me and supplicated: «اَللّٰهُمَّ اشْفِهِ أَوْ عَافِهِ» "O Allah! Grant him well-being and healing." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that after that, I never suffered that pain again.
