Hadith 1042

(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا حَضَرَ الْبَأْسُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ اتَّقَيْنَا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ ، مَا كَانَ ، أَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَحَدٌ أَقْرَبَ إِلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مِنْهُ " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Badr, when the fighting began, we would seek refuge with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was closer to the enemy than any of us, and on that day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fought the fiercest battle.
