Hadith 10027

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , قََالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَة ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، قََالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يقول : أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِتَمْرٍ مِنْ تَمْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ ، فَأَمَرَ فِيهِ بِأَمْرٍ ، ثُمَّ حَمَلَ الْحَسَنَ , أَوْ الْحُسَيْنَ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ ، وَإِنََّ لُعَابُهُ لَيَسِيلُ ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ ، فََإِذَا هُوَ يَلُوكُ تَمْرَةً مِنْ تَمْرِ الصَّدَقَةِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : " أَلْقِهَا ، أَمَا شَعَرْتَ أَنَّ آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَأْكُلُونَ الصَّدَقَةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once some dates of charity were brought to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order regarding them, and seated either Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) or Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) on his shoulder. His saliva began to flow onto the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked up and saw a date in his mouth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand in and took the date out of his mouth and said: "Do you not know that the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) does not eat charity?"
