Hadith 52

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ بَجَالَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ جَابِرَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ قَالَ: لَمْ يَكُنْ عُمَرُ أَخَذَ مِنَ الْمَجُوسِ الْجِزْيَةِ حَتَّى شَهِدَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم أَخَذَهَا مِنْ مَجُوسِ هَجَرَ ".
Jabir bin Zaid narrated that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did not use to take jizya from the Magians until Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) testified that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had taken jizya from the Magians of Hajar.
