Hadith 42

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي قَاصُّ فِلَسْطِينَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم يَقُولُ: «وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم بِيَدِهِ إِنْ كُنْتُ لَحَالِفًا عَلَيْهِنَّ لَا يَنْقُصُ مَالٌ مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ فَتَصَدَّقُوا، وَلَا يَعْفُو رَجُلٌ عَنْ مَظْلَمَةٍ يَبْتَغِي بِهَا وَجْهَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهَا عِزًّا يَومَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَلَا يَفْتَحُ رَجُلٌ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بَابَ مَسْأَلَةٍ إِلَّا فَتْحَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيْهِ بَابَ فَقْرٍ».
A storyteller from Palestine narrated, saying that Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), if I swear upon these things (then my statement is true): Wealth does not decrease by giving charity; if a person forgives an injustice solely for the pleasure of Allah, the Lord of Honor, then Allah Almighty will raise his honor on the Day of Resurrection; and if a person begins to beg, Allah Almighty opens the door of poverty upon him."
