Hadith 33

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ عُمَرُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ عَنِ الْمَجُوسِ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم يَقُولُ: سُنُّوا بِهِمْ سُنَّةَ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ.
Janaab Ja'far narrated from his father Muhammad, he said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Magians (Zoroastrians) (regarding how they should be treated). He replied: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Deal with them as you deal with the People of the Book."
