Hazrat Ibrahim narrated from his father Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: I was standing in the row on the day of the Battle of Badr, I looked to my right and left and saw two young Ansari boys standing, although I wished that I would be among strong men (seeing them, I was not satisfied). Suddenly, one of them struck me with his elbow and said: Uncle! Do you know Abu Jahl? I said: Yes, but nephew! What will you do when you see him? He said: I have heard that he abuses the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If I see him, my body will not part from his until one of us dies. Hearing his words, I was amazed. Meanwhile, the other also drew my attention and said the same thing. At that moment, suddenly I saw Abu Jahl. He was running about among his troops. I said to both of them: This is the one you were asking me about. Both of them rushed towards him with their swords, and as soon as they reached him, they finished him off. Then, running, they came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him (of the killing), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Which of you killed him?" Each said: I killed him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you cleaned your swords?" They said: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at both of their swords and said: "You both have killed him." But then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave Abu Jahl's belongings to Mu'adh, the son of Amr bin Jamuh. These two youths were Mu'adh bin 'Afra and Mu'adh bin Amr bin al-Jamuh.
