حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ الْحُدَّانِيُّ، قَالَ: قُلْنَا لِأَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدِّثْنَا أَفْضَلَ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ أَبِيكَ فِي رَمَضَانَ، قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ فَفَضَّلَهُ عَلَى الشُّهُورِ بِمَا فَضَّلَهُ اللَّهُ، قَالَ: " إِنَّ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرٌ افْتَرَضَ اللَّهُ صِيَامَهُ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَسَنَنْتُ قِيَامَهُ، فَمَنْ صَامَهُ وَقَامَهُ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا خَرَجَ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ.
Nadr bin Shiban al-Hadani narrated, he said: We said to Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman: Tell us the most excellent hadith about Ramadan that you have heard from your father. Abu Salamah said: Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us, he heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he mentioned Ramadan, he gave it superiority over other months, just as Allah Almighty has given it superiority. He said: "Indeed, the month of Ramadan is such a month whose fasting Allah Almighty has made obligatory upon the Muslims, and its night prayer I have made a Sunnah. So whoever fasts in it with faith and seeking reward, and stands in prayer during its nights, he will be cleansed of his sins as on the day his mother gave birth to him."
