Hadith 17

Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) went to visit Abu Darda Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was ill, so he said: The best and most maintaining of ties of kinship is Abu Muhammad. (Abdur Rahman, may Allah be pleased with him, said) I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, says: I am Allah, the One who created the womb (i.e., kinship) and derived its name from My Name. I am 'Rahman' and it is 'rahm.' So whoever joins it, I will join him, and whoever severs it, I will sever him."
