Hadith 16

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: دَخَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَلَى أَبِي الرَّدَّادِ اللَّيْثِيِّ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ خَيْرَهُمْ وَأَوْصَلَهُمْ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ جَلَّ وَعَزَّ «أَنَا اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقْتُ الرَّحِمَ فَمَنْ وَصَلَهَا وَصَلْتُهُ وَمَنْ قَطَعَهَا بَتَتُّهُ».
Abu Salamah narrated: Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) went to visit Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) to inquire about his health. He (Al-Laithi) said: Among them, the best and most devoted to maintaining family ties is Abu Muhammad (i.e., Abdur Rahman, may Allah be pleased with him). He (Abdur Rahman) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, has said: I am Allah, I am the One Who created the bond of kinship. So whoever maintains it, I will maintain him, and whoever severs it, I will sever him."
