Yasar bin Numair, the freed slave of Ibn Umar, says: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw me praying after the Fajr prayer and asked: O Yasar! How many rak‘ahs did you pray? I replied: I do not know. He said: You do not even know. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us while we were praying this prayer. He expressed displeasure with us and said: “Let those of you who are present convey to those who are absent. Indeed, after the rising of Fajr, there is no (nafl) prayer except for the two rak‘ahs (Sunnah of Fajr).”
