Hadith 16
حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الْوَصَّافِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ : " سَمَّاهُمُ اللَّهُ الأَبْرَارَ، لأَنَّهُمْ بَرُّوا الآبَاءَ وَالأَبْنَاءَ، كَمَا أَنَّ لِوَالِدَيْكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقًّا كَذَلِكَ لِوَلَدِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقٌّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah has named them 'Abrar' (the righteous) because they did good to their parents and their children. Just as your parents have a right over you, so too your children have a right over you."
