It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he said: A man asked the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about the night prayer. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is (offered) two by two rak‘ahs, and if one fears the approach of morning (dawn), then let him pray one rak‘ah."
