Hadith 73

حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ : يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ، اثْنَتَانِ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُمَا : جَعَلْتُ لَكَ نَصِيبًا مِنْ مَالِكَ حِينَ أَخَذْتَ بِكَظْمِكَ لأُطَهِّرَكَ بِهِ وَأُزَكِّيَكَ، وَصَلاةُ عِبَادِي عَلَيْكَ بَعْدَ انْقِضَاءِ الأَجَلِ " .
Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says: O son of Adam! Of the two things (that I gave you), not even one was in your control. I gave you authority over your share of wealth at the time when I take your soul, so that I may purify you through it, and (the second thing is) My servants performing the funeral prayer over you after your life comes to an end."
