Hadith 71

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ أَبُو الْعَلاءِ النَّافِطُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ : رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى وَجْهِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ قَمْلا، فَقَالَ : " لَعَلَّ هَوَامَّ رَأْسِكَ آذَتْكَ ؟ " قَالَ : نَعَمْ، قَالَ : " احْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ وَافْتَدِ " . قَالَ : فَافْتَدَيْتُ بِبَقَرَةٍ، وَقَلَّدْتُهَا، وَأَشْعَرْتُهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he stated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw lice on the face of Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: "Perhaps the lice on your head are troubling you?" He said, yes. The Prophet said: Shave your head and give fidya (compensation). He (Ka'b) said: I gave a cow as fidya, I braided its necklace and performed ish'ar (ritual marking).
