حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَابِقٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ، فَقَالَ : " كَانَ يَوْمًا يُعَظِّمُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ " .
Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about fasting on the day of Ashura, so he said: The people of the pre-Islamic era used to venerate this day.
