حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ : سَأَلَ عُمَرُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْجُنُبِ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَنَامَ، قَالَ : " يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلاةِ " . وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَطْعَمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he said: Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, asked the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, about a person in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) who wishes to sleep, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "He should perform ablution (wudu) like the ablution for prayer (and then sleep)." And Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, whenever he wished to eat in a state of major ritual impurity, he would perform ablution.
