Hadith 266
أَخْبَرَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ، ذَهَبَ إِلَى أَبِيهِ وَهُوَ بِالْعَقِيقِ فِي أَرْضٍ لَهُ مُعْتَزِلٍ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَتَاهُ، لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ بَدْرٍ غَيْرُكَ، وَلا مِنْ أَهْلِ الشُّورَى غَيْرُكَ، فَلَوْ أَنَّكَ ابْتَغَيْتَ بِنَفْسِكَ وَنَصَبْتَهَا لِلنَّاسِ، مَا اخْتَلَفَ عَلَيْكَ اثْنَانِ، فَقَالَ : لِهَذَا جِئْتَ، أَيْ بُنَيَّ، أَفَعَمِدْتَ حَتَّى إِذَا لَمْ يَبْقَ مَنْ أَحَكِي إِلا مِثْلَ طَمَى الدَّابَّةِ، ثُمَّ أَخْرُجُ، فَأَضْرِبُ أُمَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعضَهَا بِبَعْضٍ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ خَيْرَ الرِّزْقِ مَا يَكْفِي، وَخَيْرَ الذِّكْرِ الْخَفِيُّ " .
Muhammad bin Abi Abdur Rahman bin Labeebah narrated that indeed Umar bin Sa’d went to his father (Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him), who was at Aqeeq on his separate land, and said: O my father! Among the companions of Badr and the people of Shura, none remain except you (may Allah be pleased with you). If indeed you raise yourself and stand up for the people, not even two men will disagree with you. He replied: O my son! I will answer this. I remained seated until my life is left as much as the quick passing of a beast, then I should go out and cause some of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him) to fight others? Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: “Surely the best provision is that which suffices, and the best remembrance is that which is hidden.”
