It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Abu Dharr! What will you do when people will be hungry, to the extent that you will not have the strength to stand from your bed to your mosque and from your mosque to your bed?" I said, Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adopt chastity." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What will you do when people die, to the extent that a house will be with a servant?" I said, Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be patient." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How will you act when people fight among themselves until even the den of a wolf is recognized?" I said, Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then go to where you belong." I said, What is your opinion if I am approached? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Enter your house." I said, What is your opinion if I am still approached? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you fear that the flash of the sword will overcome you, then place the edge of your garment over your face; he will return with your sin and his own sin." I said, Should I not take up arms? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then you will become his partner."
