Hadith 251
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among us just as I am standing among you, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Him besides Whom there is no deity worthy of worship! The blood of a man who testifies that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah is not lawful, except in one of three cases: a life for a life, a married adulterer, and the one who separates from the community, abandoning his religion—or he said: leaving Islam.”
