Amr bin Maymoon (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that I used to come and go to Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) for a year. I did not hear him say during that time that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: except for one hadith which he certainly narrated, and when he began to say, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said," he was overtaken by great anxiety, to the extent that I saw drops of sweat dripping from his forehead. Then he said: If Allah wills, or above this, or like this, or something close to it. (The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said).
