Hadith 178
نا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَحْلاءَ، أَخْبَرَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَيَّانَ، قَالَ : كَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي دِينَارٍ أَعْتَقَتْنِي، فَتَزَوَّجَتْ فِي بَنِي سَلِمَةَ، فَوَلَدَتْ فِيهِمْ، ثُمَّ مَاتَتْ، فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ : يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، هَذَا سُئِلَ مِنْ وَلائِكَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ : مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ، أَنَا مَوْلَى فُلانَةَ مِنْ بَنِي الدِّينَارِ، فَقَالَ جَابِرٌ : أَجَلْ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي، فَإِنِّي أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ تَوَلَّى غَيْرَ مَوَالِيهِ خَلَعَ رِبْقَةَ الإِيمَانِ مِنْ عُنُقِهِ "، وَيَقُولُ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ .
Khalid bin Abi Hayan said that there was a woman from Banu Dinar who had set me free, then she married among Banu Salamah and had children from them, then she (the one who set me free) passed away. I entered upon Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them), so some people said, "O Abu Abdullah! This is the one who is going to ask you about your 'wala'." I said, "I seek refuge with Allah! I am the freed slave of such-and-such Dinariyah woman." So Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Yes, O son of my sister! Indeed, I bear witness that I certainly heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever makes anyone other than his masters his master, he has removed the noose of faith from his neck,' and he was gesturing with his hand like this three times."
