Hadith 177
أنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدِ بْنِ وَرْدَانَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ مَوْلًى لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَعَ مِنْ عَذْقِ نَخْلَةٍ، فَمَاتَ وَتَرَكَ شَيْئًا، فَقِيلَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ : " هَلْ لَهُ مِنْ وَلَدٍ أَوْ حَمِيمٍ ؟ "، قَالُوا : لا، قَالَ : " فَانْظُرُوا بَعْضَ أَهْلِ قَرْيَتِهِ، فَادْفَعُوهُ إِلَيْهِ " .
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that indeed the freed slave of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was cutting date palm branches when he fell and died, and he left behind some inheritance. This was reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: “Does he have any children or friends?” They said: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Look for someone from the people of the town and entrust this (wealth) to him.”
