Hadith 164
عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هَضْهَاضٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ مَاعِزَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ أَتَى رَجُلا، يُقَالُ لَهُ : هِرَاكٌ، فَقَالَ : يَا هِرَاكُ، إِنَّ الآخَرَ قَدْ زَنَى فَمَا تَرَى ؟ قَالَ : ائْتِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ فِيكَ الْقُرْآنُ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ زَنَى، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ زَجَرَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتِ الرَّابِعَةُ أَمَرَ بِرَجْمِهِ، فَلَمَّا رُجِمَ لَجَأَ إِلَى شَجَرَةٍ فَقُتِلَ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لِصَاحِبِهِ : قُتِلَ كَمَا يُقْتَلُ الْكَلْبُ، فَأَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى حِمَارٍ مُنْتَفِخٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُمَا : " أَنَهَشْتُمَا مِنْ هَذَا الْحِمَارِ ؟ "، قَالا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، حُرِّمَتْ مَيْتَتُهُ، كَيْفَ يُنْهَشُ مِنْهَا ؟ قَالَ : " الَّذِي أَصَبْتُمَا مِنْ أَحَدِكُمَا أَبْيَنُ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهُ يَسْتَحِمَّنَّ فِي أَنْهَارِ الْجَنَّةِ "، قَالَ : وَقَالَ لِهِرَاكٍ : " وَيْحَكَ يَا هِرَاكُ، أَلا رَجَمْتَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that indeed Ma'iz bin Malik came to a man who was called Hiraak and said: O Hiraak! Indeed, another has certainly committed adultery, what is your opinion? He said: Go to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Before the Qur'an is revealed about you, he went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him that indeed he had committed adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned away from him. He informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) again, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned away from him. This happened four times (he turned his face away). When it was the fourth time, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered him to be stoned. When he was stoned, he took refuge by a tree, so he was killed. A man said to his companion: He was killed just as a dog is killed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to a (swollen due to death) donkey and said to both of them: "Tear off the flesh of this donkey." Both of them said: O Messenger of Allah! This is a foul-smelling carcass, can its flesh be torn off? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "What you have reached about your brother is more foul-smelling. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he is indeed diving in the rivers of Paradise." It is said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Hiraas: "O Hiraas! Why did you not have mercy on him?"
