Hadith 149
عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حَرَامِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُحَيِّصَةَ، وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، أَنَّ نَاقَةً لِلْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ دَخَلَتْ حَائِطَ قَوْمٍ فَأَفْسَدَتْ، فَقَضَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ حِفْظَ الأَمْوَالِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا بِالنَّهَارِ، وَإِنَّ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْمَاشِيَةِ مَا أَصَابَتِ الْمَاشِيَةُ بِاللَّيْلِ " .
Haram bin Sa’d bin Muheysah and Sa’eed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on them) narrate that indeed the she-camel of Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) entered the garden of a people and caused damage. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled that “Indeed, the protection of wealth during the day is upon its owners, and surely, upon the owners of livestock is (the compensation for) what their animals cause at night.”
