Hadith 120
عَنْ رِشْدِينَ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ نُعْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ مِمَّنْ دَخَلَ النَّارَ اشْتَدَّ صِيَاحُهُمَا، فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : أَخْرِجُوهُمَا، فَلَمَّا أُخْرِجَا، قَالَ لَهُمَا : لأَيِّ شَيْءٍ اشْتَدَّ صِيَاحُكُمَا ؟ قَالا : فَعَلْنَا ذَلِكَ لِتَرْحَمَنَا، قَالَ : إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي لَكُمَا أَنْ تَنْطَلِقَا فَتُلْقِيَا أَنْفُسَكُمَا حَيْثُ كُنْتُمَا مِنَ النَّارِ، فَيَنْطَلِقَانِ فَيُلْقِي أَحَدُهُمَا نَفْسَهُ فَيَجعلُهَا اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ بَرْدًا وَسَلامًا، وَيَقُومُ الآخَرُ فَلا يُلْقِي نَفْسَهُ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ الرَّبُّ : مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تُلْقِيَ نَفْسَكَ كَمَا أَلْقَى صَاحِبُكَ ؟ فَيَقُولُ : أَيْ رَبِّ، أَرْجُو أَنْ لا تُعِيدَنِي فِيهَا بَعْدَمَا أَخْرَجْتَنِي، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ الرَّبُّ : لَكَ رَجَاؤُكَ، فَيَدْخُلانِ جَمِيعًا الْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, among those who were admitted into the Fire, the cries and wails of two men became very intense. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: Take these two out. When both were taken out, it was said to them: For what reason did your cries and wails become so intense? Both said: We did this so that You may have mercy on us. He said: My mercy for you is that both of you go and throw yourselves into the Fire at the place where you were. Both will go; one of them will throw himself into the Fire, and Allah will make it coolness and safety for him, and the other will stand and will not throw himself in. The Lord will ask him: What prevented you from throwing yourself in, just as your companion did? He will say: O Lord! I hoped that after You took me out, You would not return me to it again. The Lord will say to him: For you is your hope. So both of them will enter Paradise by His mercy.”
