Hadith 116
عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، سَمِعْتُ أَبِي، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَحنُ الآخِرُونَ السَّابِقُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ أُوتُوهُ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا، وَأُوتِينَاهُ مِنْ بَعدِهِمْ، فَهَذَا يَوْمُهُمُ الَّذِي اخْتَلَفُوا فِيهِ، فَهَدَانَا اللَّهُ لَهُ، فَهُمْ لَنَا فِيهِ تَبَعٌ الْيَهُودُ غَدًا، وَالنَّصَارَى بَعْدَ غَدٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “We are the last to come, but the foremost on the Day of Resurrection, and that is because the People of the Book were given this (Friday) before us, and we were given it after them. So this is their day about which they differed, so Allah guided us to it, and thus they follow us in this regard. The next day for the Jews is (Saturday), and for the Christians the day after that (Sunday).”
