Hadith 94
عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ : لَمَّا انْتَهَتْ عِدَّةُ زَيْنَبَ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِزَيْدٍ : " اذْكُرْهَا عَلَيَّ "، قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقْتُ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا زَيْنَبُ، أَبْشِرِي، أَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُذكِّرُكَ، فَقَالَتْ : مَا أَنَا بِصَانِعَةٍ شَيْئًا حَتَّى أُوَامِرَ رَبِّي، فَقَامَتْ إِلَى مَسْجِدِهَا وَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ، وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا بِغَيْرِ إِذْنٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyidina Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the waiting period (‘iddah) of Sayyidah Zainab (bint Jahsh) (may Allah be pleased with her) was completed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Zaid (bin Harithah) (may Allah be pleased with him): “Go and give her my proposal of marriage.” He said: “I went and said: O Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her)! Rejoice, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent me, he is proposing marriage to you.” She said: “I will not do anything until I consult my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.” She stood towards her mosque, and the Qur’an was revealed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, until he came to her without permission.
