Sayyiduna Rifa’ah Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we came with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), until when we were at the place of al-Kudair or Qudayd, some of us began to seek permission to go to their families, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted them permission. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praised Allah and said: “Seek goodness.” Then he said: “I bear witness before Allah that any servant who dies, bearing witness that there is no deity except Allah and indeed Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and Messenger, with sincerity of heart, and then remains steadfast, then surely Allah will admit him into Paradise. And indeed, my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, has promised me that He will admit seventy thousand from my Ummah into Paradise without any reckoning and without any punishment. And indeed, I firmly hope that before their entry, you and your righteous wives and children will have already taken your places in the homes of Paradise.” And he said: “When half the night or a third of the night passes, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, descends to the lowest heaven and says: ‘None of My servants can ask except from Me. Who is there who seeks forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive him? Who is there who supplicates to Me so that I may answer his supplication? Who is there who asks of Me so that I may give him?’—until the dawn breaks.”
