Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that I met Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked: "Where are you from?" I said: "From the people of Iraq." He said: "Shall I not narrate to you a hadith that will benefit those who come after you as well?" I said: "Why not?" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Indeed, the first thing for which people will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is the prayer. Allah will say to the angels: Look at My servant’s prayer. If it is complete, it will be recorded as complete, and if it is deficient, Allah the Exalted, in His forbearance and grace, will say: Return it to My servant; see if he has any voluntary prayers. If he has any voluntary prayers, his obligatory prayer will be completed with them.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Then the rest of the deeds will be taken in the same manner.'"
