Sayyiduna Hisham bin ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “It is not permissible for a Muslim to abandon another Muslim out of anger for more than three nights. As long as both of them persist in breaking off relations, they will be deviating from the truth, and the one who returns first—his initiative in returning will be an expiation for his (sins). And if he seeks reconciliation but the other does not accept, and he gives him salam, then the angels respond to him and Satan responds to the other. And if both of them die while persisting in this estrangement, neither of them will enter Paradise.” I think the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Ever.”
