It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubaid bin Khalid Salmi (may Allah be pleased with him), and he is among the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), that (the Prophet, peace be upon him) established brotherhood between two men. One of them was martyred and the other died afterwards. We performed his funeral prayer, so the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "What did you say?" They said: We prayed for him: O Allah! Have mercy on him, O Allah, unite him with his companion! So the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Then where did his prayer go after his companion's prayer? And where did his deeds go?" And I think the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Where did his fasting go after his companion's fasting? The distance between the two is as much as the distance between the sky and the earth." Amr bin Maymoon said that I like this hadith because he has narrated it to me with a chain of transmission.
