Hadith 72

عَنِ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، أَخْبَرَنِي كَثِيرٌ الأَعْرَجُ، قَالَ : كُنَّا بِذِي الصَّوَارِي وَمَعَنَا أَبُو فَاطِمَةَ الأَزْدِيُّ، وَقَدِ اسْوَدَّتْ جَبْهَتُهُ وَرُكْبَتَاهُ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ، فَقَالَ لَنَا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أَبَا فَاطِمَةَ، أَكْثِرْ مِنَ السُّجُودِ، فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ عَبْدٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَسْجُدُ لِلَّهِ سَجْدَةً، إِلا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةَ " .
Katheer A‘raj said: We were at “Dhi Sawari” (a place), and with us was Abu Fatimah Azdi, whose forehead and knees had become blackened due to the abundance of prostrations. (He narrated: I said, O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Tell me of a deed upon which I may remain steadfast and perform it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Adopt prostrations abundantly, for indeed, whenever you perform a single prostration for Allah, Allah will raise you one degree in rank and will forgive you one sin because of it.”)
