Hadith 64

عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ : " لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ، وَلأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ، إِنَّهُ إِذَا مَضَى نِصْفُ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ، ذَكَرَ نُزُولَهُ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَدْعُونِي فَأَسْتُجِيبُ لَهُ، مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ، مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I did not consider it difficult for my ummah, I would have certainly ordered them to use the miswak at every ablution, and to delay the ‘Isha prayer until midnight or one-third of the night. The matter is that when half the night or one-third of the night passes," then (the Prophet, peace be upon him) mentioned the descent of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, (and said that) He says: "Who is there to call upon Me so that I may answer his prayer? Who is there to ask of Me so that I may grant him? Who is there to seek forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive him, until the sun rises."
