It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Prayer is in sets of two rak‘ahs. In every two rak‘ahs there is tashahhud (at-tahiyyat), and one should adopt humility, submissiveness, and meekness. Then you should raise your two hands," the narrator says: raise them towards your Lord, with the inner sides facing your face, "O my Lord! Whoever does not do so, his prayer is incomplete."
