Hadith 4

عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، إِنَّ رَجُلا زَارَ أَخَاهُ فِي قَرْيَةٍ أُخْرَى، فَأَرْصَدَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عَلَى مَدْرَجَتِهِ مَلَكًا، فَلَمَّا أَتَى عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ : أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ ؟ قَالَ : " أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَزُورَ أَخًا لِي فِي هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ، قَالَ : هَلْ لَكَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تَرُبُّهَا ؟ قَالَ : لا، إِلا أَنِّي أَحْبَبْتُهُ فِي اللَّهِ، قَالَ : فَإِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكَ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحَبَّكَ كَمَا أَحْبَبْتَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that indeed a man set out to visit a brother of his in another town, so Allah appointed an angel on his path. When he reached him, the angel said, "Where are you intending to go?" He replied, "I intend to visit a brother of mine in this town." The angel said, "Has he done any favor to you for which you are going to repay him?" He said, "No, I only love him for the sake of Allah." The angel said, "Indeed, I have been sent to you by Allah with this message: Surely, Allah also loves you as you love him for His sake."
