أنا جَهْمُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ومَرَّ بِهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رُسْتُمَ فِي مَرْكِبِهِ، فَقَالَ لابْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ : إِنِّي لأَشْتَهِي مَجَالِسَكَ وحديثكَ، فَلَمَّا مَضَى، قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تَغْبِطَنَّ فَاجِرًا بِنِعْمَةٍ، فَإِنَّكَ لا تَدْرِي مَا هُوَ لاقٍ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ، إِنَّ لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ قَاتِلا لا يَمُوتُ "، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ وَهْبٌ أَبَا دَاوُدَ الأَعْوَرَ، فَقَالَ : يَا فُلانُ، مَا قَاتِلا لا يَمُوتُ ؟ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ : النَّارُ .
Jahm bin Aws narrated that I heard Abdullah bin Abi Maryam, and Ubaidullah bin Rustam passed by him on his mount. He said to Ibn Abi Maryam, "Indeed, I desire your company and to converse with you." When he left, Ibn Abi Maryam said: I heard Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Never envy a wicked person because of his blessings, for you do not know what he will encounter after his death. Surely, for him with Allah is such a killer that never dies." This hadith reached Wahb bin Munabbih, so Wahb sent Abu Dawood A'war to him and said: "O so-and-so, who is that killer who never dies?" Ibn Abi Maryam said: "Death."
