Hadith 232

عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَعْتَقَ شَقِيصًا مِنْ مَمْلُوكِهِ فَعَلَيْهِ خَلاصُهُ فِي مَالِهِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ قُوِّمَ الْمَمْلُوكُ قِيمَةَ عَدْلٍ، ثُمَّ يُسْتَسْقَى غَيْرَ مَشْقُوقٍ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he reports from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Whoever frees a share of his slave, it is obligatory upon him to free him completely from his own wealth. But if he does not have wealth, then the slave's price will be determined justly, then he will be required to strive (to pay it off), and no hardship will be imposed upon him."
