Hadith 225

حَدَّثَنَا جَدِّي، نَا حَبَّانُ، أَنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ يُحَدِّثُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ يُحَدِّثُ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: ((مَثَلُ الَّذِي يَرْجِعُ فِي صَدَقَتِهِ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ يَقِيءُ فَيَرْجِعُ فِي قَيْئِهِ فَيَأْكُلُهُ))
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the person who takes back his charity is like the example of a dog who returns to its vomit and eats it."
