Hadith 169

عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، نا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِمُقْعَدٍ كَانَ يَكُونُ عِنْدَ دَارِ أُمِّ سَعْدٍ فَاعْتَرَفَ، فَقَالَ : " اجْلِدُوهُ بِأَثْكَالِ عَذْقِ النَّخْلِ " يَعْنِي عُرُوقَ النَّخْلِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a disabled person was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was near the threshing floors (places where fruits are gathered) of Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him). He confessed (to adultery), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Beat him with a bunch of date-palm branches.” That is, with twigs that have date-palm branches.
