عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ : كَانَ يُعْجِبُنَا أَنَّ يَجِيءَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ يَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَتَاهُ أَعْرَابِيٌّ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَتَى قِيَامُ السَّاعَةِ ؟ فَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاةُ، فَنَهَضَ فَصَلَّى، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلاتِهِ، قَالَ : " أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ ؟ "، قَالَ : أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قَالَ : " وَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا ؟ "، قَالَ : مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا مِنْ كَبِيرِ صَلاةٍ وَلا صِيَامٍ، إِلا أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ، فَقَالَ : " الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ "، قَالَ : فَمَا رَأَيْتُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَرِحُوا بِشَيْءٍ بَعْدَ الإِسْلامِ فَرَحَهُمْ بِهِ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to like it when people from the villages would come and ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) questions. So, a Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) come?” The call for the prayer was given. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and led the prayer. Then, when he finished his prayer, he said: “Where is the one who asked about the Hour?” He said: “I am here, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!” He further said: “I have not prepared for it many prayers or fasts, but indeed I love Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “A person will be with those whom he loves.” He said: I have not seen the Muslims as happy about anything after accepting Islam as they were about this statement.
