Hadith 118

عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ : " يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي زُمْرَةٌ هُمْ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفًا، تُضِيءُ وُجُوهُهُمْ إِضَاءَةَ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ "، فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ الأَسَدِيُّ يَرْفَعُ نَمِرَةً عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ ؟ فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ مِنْهُمْ "، ثُمَّ قَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مِنْهُمْ ؟ فَقَالَ : " سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “A group from my Ummah, whose (number) will be seventy thousand, will enter Paradise; their faces will be shining like the light of the moon on the fourteenth night.” Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Ukasha bin Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up, lifted the striped cloak that was over him, and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Pray to Allah that He includes me among them. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Allah! Include him among them.” Then a man from the Ansar stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Pray for me that Allah includes me among them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Ukasha (may Allah be pleased with him) has preceded you in this matter.”
