باب فَضْلِ إِعَانَةِ الْغَازِي فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِمَرْكُوبٍ وَغَيْرِهِ وَخِلاَفَتِهِ فِي أَهْلِهِ بِخَيْرٍ:
Chapter: The virtue of helping the warrior who is fighting in the cause of Allah with mounts etc., and looking after his family in his absence
Hadith 1893
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي أُبْدِعَ بِي فَاحْمِلْنِي ، فَقَالَ : مَا عِنْدِي ، فَقَال : رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَا أَدُلُّهُ عَلَى مَنْ يَحْمِلُهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ دَلَّ عَلَى خَيْرٍ فَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ فَاعِلِهِ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: My riding beast has been killed, so give me some animal to ride upon. He (the Holy Prophet) said: I have none with me. A man said: Messenger of Allah, I can guide him to one who will provide him with a riding beast. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.
Hadith 1893
وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ .
The above tradition has been handed down through a different chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1894
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ فَتًى مِنْ أَسْلَمَ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْغَزْوَ وَلَيْسَ مَعِي مَا أَتَجَهَّزُ ، قَالَ : ائْتِ فُلَانًا ، فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ تَجَهَّزَ فَمَرِضَ ، فَأَتَاهُ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقْرِئُكَ السَّلَامَ ، وَيَقُولُ : أَعْطِنِي الَّذِي تَجَهَّزْتَ بِهِ ، قَالَ : " يَا فُلَانَةُ أَعْطِيهِ الَّذِي تَجَهَّزْتُ بِهِ ، وَلَا تَحْبِسِي عَنْهُ شَيْئًا فَوَاللَّهِ لَا تَحْبِسِي مِنْهُ شَيْئًا فَيُبَارَكَ لَكِ فِيهِ " .
Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, Thabit narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik. And Abu Bakr ibn Nafi‘ narrated to me—and the wording is his—Bahz narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, Thabit narrated to us, from Anas ibn Malik, that a young man from Aslam said: O Messenger of Allah, I want to go out for battle but I do not have anything with which to prepare myself. He said: Go to so-and-so, for he had prepared himself but fell ill. So he went to him and said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sends you greetings of peace and says: Give me what you have prepared. He said: O so-and-so (female), give him what I have prepared, and do not withhold anything from him. By Allah, do not withhold anything from it, so that it may be blessed for you.
Hadith 1895
وحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، قَالَ أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، وقَالَ سَعِيدٌ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ جَهَّزَ غَازِيًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ غَزَا وَمَنْ خَلَفَهُ فِي أَهْلِهِ بِخَيْرٍ فَقَدْ غَزَا " .
It has been narrated on the authority of Zaid bin Kbalid al-Juhani that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Anybody who equips a warrior (going to fight) in the way of Allah (is like one who actually) fights. And anybody who looks well after his family in his absence (is also like one who actually) fights.
Hadith 1895
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ جَهَّزَ غَازِيًا فَقَدْ غَزَا ، وَمَنْ خَلَفَ غَازِيًا فِي أَهْلِهِ فَقَدْ غَزَا " .
The above tradition has been narrated on the authority of Khalid al- Juhani who said: The Prophet (ﷺ) of Allah (ﷺ) said: He who equips a warrior in the way of Allah (is like one who dctually fights) aud he who looks after the family of a warrior in the way of Allah in fact participated in the battle.
Hadith 1896
وحَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى بَنِي لَحْيَانَ مِنْ هُذَيْلٍ ، فَقَالَ : " لِيَنْبَعِثْ مِنْ كُلِّ رَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا وَالْأَجْرُ بَيْنَهُمَا " ،
It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent a force to Banu Lihyan (who are from Banu Hudhail, and said: One man from every two and the reward (will be divided) between the two.
Hadith 1896
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَي ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَعَثَ بَعْثًا بِمَعْنَاهُ ،
The above tradition has also been narrated through two different chains of transmitters on the authority of Abu Sa'id Khudri and Yahya, respectively.
Hadith 1896
وحَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُوسَى ، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَي بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ .

Hadith 1896
وحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ إِلَى بَنِي لَحْيَانَ لِيَخْرُجْ مِنْ كُلِّ رَجُلَيْنِ رَجُلٌ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لِلْقَاعِدِ أَيُّكُمْ خَلَفَ الْخَارِجَ فِي أَهْلِهِ وَمَالِهِ بِخَيْرٍ كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ نِصْفِ أَجْرِ الْخَارِجِ " .
It has been narrated (through a still different chain of transmitters) on the authority of Abu Sa'id Khudri that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) despatched a force to Banu Lihyan. (and said:) One man from every two should join the force. Then he said to those who stayed behind: Those of you who will look well after the family and wealth of those who are going on the expedition will be getting half the reward of the warriors.
