باب حِلِّ أُجْرَةِ الْحِجَامَةِ:
Chapter: The permissibility of a cupper's earnings
Hadith 1577
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنُونَ ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : عَنْ كَسْبِ الْحَجَّامِ ، فَقَالَ : " احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَجَمَهُ أَبُو طَيْبَةَ ، فَأَمَرَ لَهُ بِصَاعَيْنِ مِنْ طَعَامٍ وَكَلَّمَ أَهْلَهُ ، فَوَضَعُوا عَنْهُ مِنْ خَرَاجِهِ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ أَوْ هُوَ مِنْ أَمْثَلِ دَوَائِكُمْ " .
It is narrated on the authority of Humaid that Anas bin Malik (RA) was asked about the earnings of the cupper. He said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got himself cupped. His cupper was Abu Taiba and he (the Holy Prophet) commanded to give him two sa's of corn. He (the Holy Prophet) talked with the members of his family and they lightened the burden of Kharaj (tax) from him (i. e. they made remis- sion in the charges of their own accord). He (Allah's Apostle) (ﷺ) said: The best (treat- ment) which you take is cupping, or it is the best of your treatments.
Hadith 1577
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ يَعْنِي الْفَزَارِيَّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ ، عَنْ كَسْبِ الْحَجَّامِ ، فَذَكَرَ بِمِثْلِهِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ ، وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ ، وَلَا تُعَذِّبُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالْغَمْزِ .
Rumaid reported that Anas bin Malik (RA) has asked about the earnings of a cupper. Then (the above-mentioned hadith was reported but with this addition) that he said: The best treatment which you get is cupping or aloeswood and do not torture your children by pressing their uvula.
Hadith 1577
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ خِرَاشٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا ، يَقُولُ : " دَعَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غُلَامًا لَنَا حَجَّامًا ، فَحَجَمَهُ ، فَأَمَرَ لَهُ بِصَاعٍ أَوْ مُدٍّ أَوْ مُدَّيْنِ وَكَلَّمَ فِيهِ ، فَخُفِّفَ عَنْ ضَرِيبَتِهِ " .
Humaid reported Anas (RA) having said this: Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) called for young cupper belonging to us. He cupped him and he (the Holy Prophet) commanded that he should be paid one sa' or one mudd or two mudds (of wheat). It was said (that charges were high) and a reduction was made in the charges.
Hadith 1202
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ وُهَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " احْتَجَمَ ، وَأَعْطَى الْحَجَّامَ أَجْرَهُ ، وَاسْتَعَطَ " .
Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) got himself cupped and he paid the clipper his charges and he put medicine in his nostrils.
Hadith 1202
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، واللفظ لعبد ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " حَجَمَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبْدٌ لِبَنِي بَيَاضَةَ ، فَأَعْطَاهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَجْرَهُ ، وَكَلَّمَ سَيِّدَهُ ، فَخَفَّفَ عَنْهُ مِنْ ضَرِيبَتِهِ وَلَوْ كَانَ سُحْتًا ، لَمْ يُعْطِهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Ibn 'Abbas (RA) reported: The slave of Banu Bayada cupped Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and he gave him his wages, and talked to his master and he reduced the charges, and if this earning was unlawful Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) would not have given it.
