باب بَيَانِ أَنَّ الْقُبْلَةَ فِي الصَّوْمِ لَيْسَتْ مُحَرَّمَةً عَلَى مَنْ لَمْ تُحَرِّكْ شَهْوَتَهُ:
Chapter: Clarifying that Kissing when fasting is not unlawful for the one whose desire is not provoked by that
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُ إِحْدَى نِسَائِهِ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " ، ثُمَّ تَضْحَكُ .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) kissed one of his wives while he was fasting, and then she ('A'isha) smiled (as she narrated).
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ أَسَمِعْتَ أَبَاكَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ؟ " فَسَكَتَ سَاعَةً ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " .
Sufyan reported: I said to 'Abdul Rahman bin Qasim: Have you heard from your father narrating from 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) that he kissed her while observing fast? He ('Abdul Rahman bin Qasim) kept silence for a short while and then said: "Yes."
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَبِّلُنِي وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ، وَأَيُّكُمْ يَمْلِكُ إِرْبَهُ كَمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْلِكُ إِرْبَهُ " .
'A'isha reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to kiss me while observing fast; and who among you can control his desire as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) could control his desire.
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، وَعَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا . ح وحَدَّثَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ، وَيُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ أَمْلَكُكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ " .
Yahya ibn Yahya, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, and Abu Kurayb narrated to us. Yahya said: He informed us, and the other two said: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from al-Aswad and Alqamah, from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her.
And Shuja' ibn Makhlad narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Za'idah narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to kiss while he was fasting, and he used to embrace while he was fasting, but he was the most able of you to control his desire.
And Shuja' ibn Makhlad narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Za'idah narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to kiss while he was fasting, and he used to embrace while he was fasting, but he was the most able of you to control his desire.
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ، وَكَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to kiss (his wives) while fasting; and he had the greatest control over his desire (as compared with you).
Hadith 1106
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to embrace (his wives) while fasting.
Hadith 1106
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، قَالَ : انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا ، وَمَسْرُوقٌ إلى عائشة رضي الله عنها ، فقلنا لها : " أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَاشِرُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : " نَعَمْ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ أَمْلَكَكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ ، أَوْ مِنْ أَمْلَكِكُمْ لِإِرْبِهِ " ، شَكَّ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ،
Aswad reported: I and Masruq went to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and asked her if the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) embraced (his wives) while fasting. She said: Yes; but he had the greatest control over his desire among you: or he was one of those who had control over his desire. It is further narrated on the authority of Aswad and Masruq that they went to the Mother of the Believers and they asked her (and the rest of the hadith is the same)
Hadith 1106
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ يَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، وَمَسْرُوقٍ ، أَنَّهُمَا دَخَلَا عَلَى أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَسْأَلَانَهَا ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ .
Aswad reported: I and Masruq went to 'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) and asked her if the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) embraced (his wives) while fasting. She said: Yes; but he had the greatest control over his desire among you: or he was one of those who had control over his desire. It is further narrated on the authority of Aswad and Masruq that they went to the Mother of the Believers and they asked her (and the rest of the hadith is the same)
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " ،
'Urwa bin Zubair narrated that 'A'isha the Mother of the Believers (Allah be pleased with her) informed him that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) kissed her while fasting.
Hadith 1106
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بِشْرٍ الْحَرِيرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ .
A hadith like this has been narrated by Yahya bin Abu Kathir with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1106
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُقَبِّلُ فِي شَهْرِ الصَّوْمِ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to kiss her during the month of fasting.
Hadith 1106
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّهْشَلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عِلَاقَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُقَبِّلُ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) kissed (his wives) during Ramadan while observing fast.
Hadith 1106
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَانَ يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " .
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) (peace be upon him) kissed (his wives) while fasting.
Hadith 1107
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ شُتَيْرِ بْنِ شَكَلٍ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُقَبِّلُ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ " ،
Hafsa (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) kissed (his wives) while fasting.
Hadith 1107
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَإسحاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ ، كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ شُتَيْرِ بْنِ شَكَلٍ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ .
A hadith like this has been narrated by Hafsa (Allah be pleased with her) through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1108
حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَيُقَبِّلُ الصَّائِمُ ؟ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَلْ هَذِهِ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ " ، فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَا وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَتْقَاكُمْ لِلَّهِ ، وَأَخْشَاكُمْ لَهُ " .
Umar b Abu Salama reported that he asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) : Should one observing fast kiss (his wife)? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: Ask her (Umm Salamah). She informed him that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did that, where upon he said: Messenger of Allah, Allah pardoned thee all thy sins, the previous and the later ones. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ) said: By Allah, I am the most God conscious among you and I fear Him most among you.
