Chapter: Gifts are permissible for the Prophet (saws) and Banu Hashim and Banu Al-Muttalib, even if the giver acquired it by way of charity. When the receipient takes possession of Charity, it is no longer described as charity, and it is permissible for anyone for whom charity is otherwise unlawful
Juwayriyah, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said that Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to her and said: Is there anything to eat? She said: Messenger of Allah, I swear by God, there is no food with us except a bone of goat which my freed maid-servant was given as sadaqa. Upon this he said: Bring that to me, for it (the sadaqa) has reached its destination.
Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah and Abu Kurayb narrated to us, they said: Waki‘ narrated to us. H (another chain) and Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna and Ibn Bashar narrated to us, they said: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, both of them from Shu‘bah, from Qatadah, from Anas. H (another chain) and ‘Ubaydullah ibn Mu‘adh narrated to us, and the wording is his, he said: My father narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Qatadah, he heard Anas ibn Malik, who said: Barirah gave to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, meat that had been given to her as charity, so he said: "It is charity for her and a gift for us."
'A'isha reported that (once) the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace be upon him,) was presented with beef. It was said (by someone) that it had been given to Barira as sadaqah. Upon this he (the Prophet) said: It is a sadaqah for her and a gift for us.
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said: Three are the decions (of the Shari'ah that we have come to know) through Barira. The people gave her sadaqah and she offered us as gift. We made a mention of it to the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) , whereupon he said: It is a sadaqah for her and a gift for you; so eat it.
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of 'A'isha in a similar manner except a slight variation that he said: "That is a gift for us out of it."
Umm 'Atiyya, said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me some mutton of sadaqah. I sent a piece out of that to 'A'isha. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to 'A'isha, he said: Have you anything with you (to eat)? She said: Nothing, except only that mutton sent to us by Nusaiba (the kunya of Umm 'Atiyyah) which you had sent to her. Whereupon he said: It has reached its proper place.
