باب كَرَاهَةِ الشُّرُوعِ فِي نَافِلَةٍ بَعْدَ شُرُوعِ الْمُؤَذِّنِ:
Chapter: It is disliked to start a voluntary prayer after the Mu’adhdhin has started to say Iqamah for prayer, whether that is a regular sunnah, such as the sunnah of Subh or Zuhr, or anything else, and regardless of whether he knows that he will catch up with the rak`ah with the Imam or not
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ وَرْقَاءَ ، عَنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَلَا صَلَاةَ إِلَّا الْمَكْتُوبَةُ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: When the prayer commences then there is no prayer (valid), but the obligatory prayer. This hadith has been narrated by Warqa' with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، وَابْنُ رَافِعٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي وَرْقَاءُ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ .
This Arabic text is part of previous Hadeeth No.8945 but not taken with that and not transmitted.
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْحَارِثِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّاءُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ ، يَقُولُ : عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَلَا صَلَاةَ إِلَّا الْمَكْتُوبَةُ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: When the prayer commences, there is no prayer but the obligatory one.
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنَاه عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّاءُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ .
A hadith like this has been reported by Ishaq with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 710
وحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ ، قَالَ حَمَّادٌ : ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ عَمْرًا ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ .
This hadith has been narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) with another chain of transmitters. Hammad (one of the narrators) said: I then met 'Amr (the other narrator) and he narrated it to me, but it was not transmitted directly from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 711
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ يُصَلِّي ، وَقَدْ أُقِيمَتِ صَلَاةُ الصُّبْحِ ، فَكَلَّمَهُ بِشَيْءٍ لَا نَدْرِي مَا هُوَ ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفْنَا ، أَحَطْنَا نَقُولُ : مَاذَا ؟ قَالَ : لَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي : " يُوشِكُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الصُّبْحَ أَرْبَعًا " ، قَالَ : الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ابْنُ بُحَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ مُسْلِمٌ وَقَوْلُهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ خَطَأٌ .
'Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaina reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) happened to pass by a person who was busy in praying while the (Fard of the) dawn prayer had commenced. He said something to him, which we do not know what it was. When we turned back we surrounded him and said: What is it that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to you? He replied: He (the Holy Prophet) had said to me that he perceived as if one of them was about to observe four (rak'ahs) of the dawn prayer. Qa'nabi reported that 'Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaina narrated it on the authority of his father. (Abu'l-Husain Muslim said): His assertion that he has narrated this hadith on the authority of his father is not correct.
Hadith 711
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ ، قَالَ : " أُقِيمَتِ صَلَاةُ الصُّبْحِ ، فَرَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي ، وَالْمُؤَذِّنُ يُقِيمُ ، فَقَالَ : أَتُصَلِّي الصُّبْحَ أَرْبَعًا ؟ " .
Ibn Buhaina reported: The dawn prayer had commenced when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw a person observing prayer, whereas the Mu'adhdhin had pronounced when he hears the Iqamah. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet (ﷺ)) remarked: Do you say four (rak'ahs) of Fard in the dawn prayer?
Hadith 712
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ . ح ، وحَدَّثَنِي حَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْبَكْرَاوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زِيَادٍ . ح ، وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ . ح ، وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الأَحْوَلِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسَ ، قَالَ : " دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ الْمَسْجِدَ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فِي جَانِبِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : يَا فُلَانُ ، بِأَيِّ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ اعْتَدَدْتَ ، أَبِصَلَاتِكَ وَحْدَكَ ، أَمْ بِصَلَاتِكَ مَعَنَا ؟ " .
'Abdullah bin Sarjis reported: A person entered the mosque, while the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was leading the dawn prayer. He observed two rak'ahs in a corner of the mosque, and then joined the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in prayer. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had pronounced salutations (he had concluded the prayer), he said: O, so and so, which one out of these two prayers did you count (as your Fard prayer), the one that you observed alone or the prayer that you observed with us?
