Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
957. Commentary: It is recommended (mustahabb) to recite these two surahs in the morning prayer (Salat al-Fajr) on the blessed day of Jumu‘ah (Friday). This was the regular practice of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. However, this does not mean at all that it is not permissible to recite any other surah besides these; reciting other surahs is also permissible, but this should be the predominant practice so that the impression of obligation (fardiyyah) is removed. Imam Tabarani rahimahullah narrates from Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud radi Allahu anhu a narration in which the continuity of this practice of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is mentioned, that this was always his habit. See: [المعجم الصغیر للطبراني ، حدیث : 956]
However, the words indicating continuity and perpetuity are weak. See: (Bulugh al-Maram, Hadith: 228, its verification)

Benefits and Issues:

Imams of mosques should recite these Surahs in the Fajr prayer on the day of Jumu‘ah.
Although the prayer will still be valid if any other Surah is recited,
reciting these Surahs is Sunnah.

Perhaps the wisdom in this is that in both of these Surahs, there is mention of the creation of man, his end, Adam (alayhis salam), Paradise, Hell, and the Day of Resurrection.
All these matters are to occur on the day of Jumu‘ah, and some have already occurred.
