باب التَّغْلِيظِ فِي تَرْكِ الْجُمُعَةِ:Chapter: Stern warning against missing Jumu`ah
وحَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ يَعْنِي أَخَاهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَلَّامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مِينَاءَ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ وَأَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَاهُ ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ عَلَى أَعْوَادِ مِنْبَرِهِ : " لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ ، عَنْ وَدْعِهِمُ الْجُمُعَاتِ ، أَوْ لَيَخْتِمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ ، ثُمَّ لَيَكُونُنَّ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ " .
'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) and Abu Hurairah (RA) said that they heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say on the planks of his pulpit: People most cease to neglect the Friday prayer or Allah will seal their hearts and then they will be among the negligent.

This hadith establishes the extraordinary importance of Jumu‘ah (Friday), and it also shows that when a person becomes accustomed to acts of disobedience and evil, he is deprived of Allah’s mercy and favor. A seal is set upon his heart, due to which he is deprived of the ability and capacity for goodness and virtue, and he is not granted the success (tawfiq) to perform good deeds.
